Peta Friend is a proud trans woman, public speaker and community leader. In 2015 Peta founded Trans Sydney Pride, now Trans Pride Australia.

 

Peta represents Trans Pride Australia on Acon’s Trans and Gender Diverse advisory Committee developing a Trans and Gender Diverse Community Health Strategy.

 

Peta creates awareness and visibility for trans issues in the wider community through sharing her story of transition. She has spoken at many corporate events including the Macquarie Bank, State Street, Goldman Saks and The Attorney Generals Department. And was a key speaker for the largest Marriage Equality rally at Town Hall speaking to an audience of over thirty thousand.

 

In association with Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras and TSP she produced and featured as a speaker in Trans Stories – 40 Years; the sell-out, headline event for Mardi Gras’ Queer Thinking Festival at Carriage works.

AJ Brown is a proud trans man, landscaper +  landscape designer, partner + father.

Growing up in Derbyshire in the UK he travelled to Sydney, Australia at 21 in search of the LGBT+ community. 

 

AJ owns Evolve Gardens; he holds a structural landscape license, is a member of the Australian Institute of Landscape Design & Managers (AILDM) and has designed + constructed gardens all over Sydney.

 

As Vice President for Trans Pride Australia, AJ uses his platform to advocate for TGD rights.  He’s on the committee for Transgender Health NSW and admin of TPA Family, Friends and Allies, Transgender International + LGBTQI International News. 

 

AJ has spoken at TSP’s Trans Stories a Celebration for Pride Week, Trans Stories – 40 Years for TSP + Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras headlining the Queer Thinking Festival at Carraigeworks and Queers Stories, alongside his partner Lisa Freshwater.  He was a community model for the Aurora Foundations [STYLE]aGender. In the corporate sector AJ has spoken at events for Out for Australia, Goldman Sachs and the Macquarie Bank.

Lisa is a theatre director and producer.

In May 2018 she launched Freshwater Entertainment and Management (FEM) with a vision to see diversity on every stage – globally. FEM creates bold entertainment for unconventional theatre, events and festivals and represents diverse speakers who communicate big ideas through personal narratives. Most recently she directed Trans Stories 40

Years for Trans Sydney Pride and Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras, has choreographed TSP's Mardi Gras Parade entries and produced the event How to be a Good Trans Ally.

Lisa is admin of the Partners and Family, friends and Allies group and is the life partner of AJ Brown. Together they have a 16 year old son and a border collie called Fergus.

Rhett joined the board of Trans Pride Australia in March 2019 having been involved with the organisation for years prior, including speaking at the first Trans Stories event at Stonewall in June 2017. He currently works as an operational lead with The Big Red Group.

Originally from New Zealand, Rhett has lived in Sydney since 2011 having made the move to explore his gender identity and subsequently transition. Since his transition, Rhett has appeared in numerous campaigns for trans health and inclusion including ACON's Ending HIV #youchooose campaign as an adovcate for PrEP.

Rhett also has a chocolate labrador puppy named Rupert.
